FAQs

Here are answers to frequently asked questions. For additional questions, feel free to contact us by phone or e-mail. For specific medical questions regarding your health, please contact us through your Patient Passport.
  • Do you accept medical insurance?
Dr. Tsang is an in-network provider and our office will send your claim directly to your insurance company. We recommend that patients contact their insurance provider to determine coverage prior to scheduling an appointment. Because your health insurance is a contract between you and your insurance company, our office is not responsible for any monetary balance on your claim. We recommend that you review and become familiar with your insurance plan and benefits before your visit with us.
  • What about payment?
A copay is required at the time medical service is provided, and we accept the following forms thereof: Cash, Traveler’s Checks, Debit / ATM, and all major Credit Cards. We also accept HSA (Health Savings Account) and Flex Accounts. Any remaining unpaid balance must be paid at the time the service is provided; a schedule of partial payments may be arranged with our billing department.
  • Do you charge for missed appointments?
If you fail to cancel or reschedule within 24 hours of your appointment, we reserve the right to charge a $50 fee.
  • Can I ask for a prescription over the phone?
Established patients can call our office for refills of existing, non-narcotic prescriptions. If you are not an established patient of our practice, we cannot prescribe or refill medications without an office or home visit. It is against California state law to prescribe any medication over the phone without an examination. Refill requests should be called into your local pharmacy. The pharmacy will then contact our office online or by fax if approval is needed. Please allow us 48 hours to handle your refill request once it is received by the pharmacy or our office.
  • Do you offer samples of medications?
Dr. Tsang can offer samples of medications, if necessary, and if available.
  • When should I hear back from Dr. Tsang about my labs?
Dr. Tsang receives and reviews lab reports on a daily basis. If there are any urgent results, you will be contacted immediately. In addition, you are more than welcome to contact our office to get your lab results. Lab results usually take one week to be processed and sent to our office.
  • Can I hear my lab results over the phone or do I have to come in?
After Dr. Tsang reviews your labs, they will be sent to your patient passport. If they contain abnormalities or require an extended explanation, Dr. Tsang will ask you to schedule a follow up visit in person, or online through our telemedicine platform. You are always welcome to contact us by phone or email about any of your lab results.
  • How can I obtain access to my labs?
Because of HIPPA regulations, we are unable to email lab results directly to you. However, we can give you online access to these results through our patient portal system.
  • Can you make referrals to specialists?
Yes, we are able to refer you to a specialist within your insurance's network.
  • Do you offer telemedicine consultations?
Yes! We offer telemedicine appointments through Doxy. Telemedicine allows existing patients to meet with Dr. Tsang over secure video chat. You will need either a smartphone or desktop/laptop computer with a webcam and microphone. For issues that do not require a detailed physical examination, Telemedicine is just as effective. Telemedicine appointments are usually covered by your insurance. You will be charged the same copay or co-insurance as a regular visit. Please contact our office if you have further questions.
  • What is a home visit?
A home visit is when a physician personally brings medical services to you. Dr. Tsang is able to see you at your home if you are elderly and your medical condition prevents you from leaving your house.
  • Do you offer same-day appointments?
Yes. Although not always available, we do our best to accommodate same-day appointments.
  • Do you offer telephone consultations?
No. Telephone consults are considered an out-of-network service, so insurance companies will not reimburse our office for providing this service. We may be able to offer you a video consultation if you cannot make it to our office. Please contact our office for details. (Due to COVID-19, some insurances are considering telephone consults as an in-network service. Please check with your insurance if this benefit is in your current plan.)
